Over a century ago fragile photographic plates froze
time and gave us an insight into the past. Fortunately many of these fragile plate are
still with us today. With Digital technology rapidly changing the way we
record an image and a digital system outdated before its began, many
modern images will be lost forever. I don’t know if Fox Talbot, Daguerre
and Niepce would have embraced this new technology or been repelled at the
very thought, but I feel traditional photography is becoming a dying art.
Many
professional and amateur photographers are turning their backs on
traditional methods and as a result companies may find little demand for
their products. With this, many commercially made products may cease to
exist . Traditionalists and purists may have to return to the dawn
of photography once again and begin coating their own plates. Although I
find Digital photography without a soul this web site wouldn't be here
without it. I guess we're all at the mercy of technology |
